Honourable mention MST at the BNA Building of the Year award ceremony
At the award ceremony for the BNA Building of the Year 2016 election, Medical Spectrum Twente received an honourable mention. The prize for the BNA Building of the Year has been awarded since 2006. This by far most important architecture prize in the Netherlands is an initiative of the Branch Association of Dutch Architectural Firms.
The honourable mention was obtained in the category Lifestyle & Social Cohesion. This category concerns buildings that contribute to the liveability of the surroundings, stimulate connections between people and strengthen cohesion. The honourable mentions are awarded because of special achievements. Medical Spectrum Twente was appreciated for its pleasant and consistent quality.
'A pleasant building, consistently designed', the jury says. 'Never over the top, but also never under the measure. The light, quiet interior appeals. From an urban planning point of view, this project makes a strong point, not only by connecting the function of a hospital with inner-city life, but also by making clever use of the facilities that already exist'.
