Follow-up research 'Game About Shrinkage' can commence!
'Game About Shrinkage' is one of the four projects which have been selected for the open call of the Creative Industries Fund to develop new interpretations and strategies for the transformation and reprogramming of inner cities via designing research. IAA Urban Planning and Landscape is conducting this research in collaboration with Het Oversticht and Invocate.
The 'Game About Shrinkage' project researches an innovative process-approach based on serious gaming and develops future prospects for shrinking inner cities. Serious gaming is a creative way to involve entrepreneurs and residents in new solutions for the future of a city centre, based on a game.
The approach is aimed at medium-sized cities with a regional function, which are forced to think about a more compact city centre. The game is being developed on the basis of the 'Kampen' case and reflected in a broad advisory group with municipalities and interested companies, so that we can work towards a generic approach.
The substantive results and the serious game will eventually be presented in a project report. This is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
