Own drinking water in the Melkhal
Broadcaster 1Twente has made a report on how the large water cellar under the Melkhal can be used to produce drinking water for the Melkhal itself and the surrounding (residential) buildings with the help of its own purification plant. In addition to rainwater, surplus groundwater from surrounding neighbourhoods can be collected in the basement and made suitable for reuse after purification. A very interesting development that is part of the Saxion University of Applied Sciences research project OneStepNF - Decentralised (Drinking) Water Enschede. The knowledge gained here can be applied to other locations in the Netherlands, but also abroad where water issues are prominent.
DECENTRALISED (DRINKING) WATER ENSCHEDE
The research project OneStepNF - Decentralised (Drinking) Water Enschede falls under TechForFuture and is a collaboration of the Saxion lectureships 'International Water Technology' and 'Sustainable Environment' with Vitens, Municipality of Enschede, NTP Groep, VincentSpikker, Siers Groep Oldenzaal, Jotem Water Treatment and NX Filtration.
