Het Woolde festively opened by Princess Margriet
Yesterday was the day: Princess Margriet of the Netherlands opened the renovated residential care centre Het Woolde in Hengelo. In the place where once stood 'Huize Avondrust', care provider Carintreggeland has built a new construction. After the opening ceremony, there was a tour of the complex with meetings with proud residents and a visit to the exhibition '100 years of elderly care in Hengelo'. For those unable to attend the exhibition: Carintreggeland has made the history available online here, with special images.
TWO NEW BUILDINGS
In two detached oval buildings of three and four floors, Het Woolde offers 84 nursing home places for elderly people with memory problems, possibly combined with physical disabilities. The buildings are divided into groups of six residents who live together, with two homes per floor. Each resident has their own sitting/bedroom and bathroom, with a shared kitchen and living room per group. The new construction is designed so that the layout with sitting/bedroom + bathroom can easily be converted into apartments.
On the ground floor of the four-floor building, there is an outside conservatory-like meeting area with a coffee corner. The finishing touch is the park-like garden laid out around the buildings to a design by Buro Mien Ruys.
