Tender won for MFA Almkerk

In collaboration with UArchitects, we have won the European tender for Broad school/children's centre Almkerk! The municipality of Altena is going to realise multifunctional accommodation (MFA) in the core of Almkerk that will accommodate two primary schools, a childcare organisation, a library and a speech therapy practice. The MFA will also have a sports hall and the function of a village hall.

CONTEMPORARY BUILDING

Our mission is to create a contemporary building in Almkerk where children aged 0 to 13 can learn and play and where Almkerk residents can play sports and meet.

In the structure of the mass, the sports hall takes a logistically and urbanistically prominent role. Through its location on the first floor and at a right angle to the site, the MFA is given many opportunities to optimally connect all users. In this way, it also provides good outdoor spaces and, at the same time, the building acquires an urban-planning-appropriate volume and orientation that conveys its central position in Almkerk.

Further development including all users

In an intensive user consultation, we will further develop the preliminary design in the coming months, naturally in coordination with the municipality of Altena and in collaboration with Aveco de Bondt for constructional advice.
