Vote for Saxion Deventer and town hall Berkelland for audience award BNA
IAA Architecten has selected two buildings to participate in the BNA Building of the Year Architects Award 2013. Both Town Hall Berkelland in Borculo and the extension of Saxion Deventer are competing. In 2009, IAA Architecten received the BNA prize for Building of the Year Region East for the ROC of Twente in Hengelo. The design assignment consisted of building a large school and the conversion of a characteristic hall, the former foundry of the Stork. In 2011, IAA Architecten had the honour of receiving the Gulden Feniks in the Transformation category for this same building.
We hope to be selected for the BNA price again this year. The building that obtains the most votes on 25 March 2013 will receive a wildcard. This way, the building will compete for the audience award along with the jury nominees. From 1 to 30 April you can vote again, but then only for the audience award.
Town hall Berkelland
The starting point of the merged municipality of Berkelland was to maintain the existing town hall of Borculo and to realise an extension in a different style. IAA Architecten has done this by designing a rational, flexible and functional building. The starting point for this was that the new building would show respect for the existing building.
Extension Saxion Deventer
The new building in Deventer responds to the space requirements of Saxion University of Applied Sciences, but also to the difficult location along the railway line and the lack of identity of the place itself. Characteristic are the transparency of the facade structure, the use of colour and an innovative installation concept. It is a sustainable and optimistic appearance in the surroundings.
