Archikidz 2017: A house for your pet
Architecture for children, that's Archikidz! In the 2017 edition, over 120 children between the ages of 7 and 12 gathered together in the main building of Saxion in Enschede to create something beautiful for their pets and plush toy animals. With the help of, among others, IAA Architects, beautiful buildings were designed and crafted together. From an ant accommodation to a panda swimming pool.
Discovering architecture
With simple materials such as cardboard, tape and fabric, the children in the annual workshop could discover architecture in a playful way. Under the guidance of the many volunteers, they built a maquette of their pet dream house, fantasy building or castle in the sky. And with amazing results!
Taking part and working together
Archikidz believes in the creative power of children. We invite them to discover theirs by thinking about, working on and building their own (living) environment. An important point is that Archikidz is free of charge and accessible to all Enschede children. Archikidz wants to create space to meet and work together. Background and origin do not matter. All that matters is imagination and the joy of working together on ideas.

Archikidz is made possible by sponsorship, donations and grants, in cash as well as in kind. The supervision of the children on the day itself also happens on a voluntary basis.
